What starts it is the memory of the short, yet endless first night Vincent and Maud spend together. They have just met yet they dream of running away together for good. In the morning however, Vincent takes off.
They meet again several years later. It is Vincent who calls Maud. She is now married, the mother of a little girl. Yet she appears to be still waiting for him, as if he had just woken her up, and with her, her desire and her love for him.
They meet again, on the pretext of a job. He is a filmmaker, she is a novelist, this gives him a reason to approach her…
Time elapses again: five, eight, maybe ten years before there can be another chance, another night that may or may not be the last one again.

Au début, c’est le souvenir d’une nuit, une nuit courte et interminable entre un homme et une femme, Vincent et Maud qui se rencontrent pour la première fois, qui devraient tout quitter l’un pour l’autre, s’enfuir ensemble, ne jamais revenir.
Mais ça ne s’est pas passé comme ça, au petit matin Vincent s’éloigne.
Il leur faudra plusieurs années pour se retrouver. Cette fois, c’est lui qui l’appelle, Maud a beau être mariée, mère d’une petite fille, on dirait qu’elle l’attend toujours : comme il l’a réveillée, elle ne s’est jamais endormie, ni son amour ni son désir qu’elle espère réciproques.
Ils se revoient pour un travail en commun. Il est cinéaste, elle est romancière, est-ce un prétexte, une façon pour lui de se rapprocher d’elle… On ne va tout de même pas tout vous raconter.
Le temps passera encore, un temps fou : cinq, huit, dix ans peut-être pour une dernière chance entre eux, au moins une autre nuit qui serait la dernière comme la première.
