From the revolution in Iran to exile in France, the inspiring journey of a great female figure.
Faranguis Habibi grew up in Tehran, raised by the texts of Victor Hugo. It was in France that she chose, at the dawn of 1968, to build her life. She discovers the Sorbonne, and the rise of feminism. With the fall of Shah in 1979, she returns to Iran : the revolution is notably promising for Iranian women. But reality hits the Iranians hard, and when the war between Iran and Iraq breaks out, Faranguis Habibi rejoins France and becomes a major intellectual figure there. This personal story blends poetically memories of childhood, experiences of exile, the welcoming of a country, and nightmares which don’t leave.
Faranguis Habibi is a well-known French-Iranian journalist. She was head of the Persian service of radio Radio France Internationale for thirty years, and was trained in the role of radio journalist in Afghanistan in the 2000s. She is also a sociologist.
